A Resource for Help With Part D and Other Medicare Questions

Every state has a program that provides free counseling to seniors about insurance including the Medicare Part D drug programs. These agencies known as SHIIPs (Senior Insurance Information Programs) provide free, unbiased information and assistance. Click HERE to find your SHIIP.

SHIIP supports local, community-based programs to help people on Medicare and their families with choosing a health plan, billing or claims problems and other issues with health insurance. The counselors are volunteers who have received extensive training. They provide one-on-one counseling. They make referrals and provide information about Medicare fraud and abuse.

SHIIP, also know as SHIP, programs go by other names in some states. In Connecticut, for example, it is called ÒChoices.Ó These programs are funded through Federal grants and are in 50 states plus Washington, D.C. Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
