The NeedyMeds Volunteer Project

The NeedyMeds Volunteer Project is an outreach program with the mission of connecting low-income people with programs that will assist them with the cost of medicine and healthcare.

What is the NeedyMeds Volunteer Project?

This project supplies materials and support for groups and organizations that want to organize volunteer programs to help people find assistance programs. The sponsoring group or organization will be responsible for organizing and running the volunteer program but will have the advice and help of the NeedyMeds Volunteer Project.

The Volunteer Project will provide the following support:

  1. The Handbook for Planners This short handbook includes the basic steps and suggestions for planning a volunteer program. It is available on paper or as a PowerPoint presentation on a CD.

  2. The Resource Manual Available on paper or on a CD, the manual has three major sections: volunteer guidelines, how to help applicants and additional information.

  3. Email Support NeedyMeds will answer questions and give updates through email contact with the volunteer programs.

  4. NeedyMeds Speakers NeedyMeds staff will travel to train volunteers and meet with organizers according to funding and availability.

The Volunteer Project Philosophy
Our goal is to help people who cannot afford medicine and other healthcare expenses find assistance. An important aspect of our philosophy is that we want to empower people to help themselves. Volunteers' most valuable contribution is helping people learn how to find and use assistance programs so they can continue to use these resources - on their own - when needed.
